The Opportunity

The Players Republic (TPR) is seeking £538,000 of equity investment to develop a sports agency focused on identifying and contracting young up-and-coming football talent. Established by three of the foremost agents in the industry, TPR is expected to benefit from the lucrative transfer markets both in the UK and internationally and will provide football fans with the opportunity to invest in players’ image rights.

TPR has been established by an experienced management team to focus on identifying and contracting young up-and-coming football talent with the intention of assisting them in obtaining playing contracts with clubs in the Premier League and Championship.

We want to find the players of tomorrow and take them from playing in a park to showcasing their talent in major stadia all over the globe.

  • TPR will acquire the image rights of contracted players for an initial sum (akin to a royalty payment) and will work with the players to negotiate contracts across all aspects of their careers, including playing contracts, sponsorship deals and media work, as well as managing their life away from football (social media, travel, homes etc).
  • Jon and Phil Smith each have more than 30 years’ experience working as a football agent and a track record of identifying and nurturing a number of successful players, including Gianfranco Zola, Freddie Ljungberg, Ruud Gullit, Kevin Phillips and Jermaine Beckford, as well as acting as agent for the England Football Team, Diego Maradona and football managers including Harry Redknapp.
  • The professional reputation of the TPR team and their senior contacts with the major clubs is expected to provide TPR with an advantage when negotiating both with potential clients and with the clubs when looking to place those players. Advanced negotiations are in course with a number of potential players to join TPR’s roster.
  • TPR’s revenue is generated through a fee paid by the player (or club on his behalf) linked to the contracts negotiated by TPR. For playing contracts this will be 5%, with fees for other advice/negotiations agreed with the player on a case by case basis. In addition, TPR may receive payments for assisting in transfer negotiations, where the parties would typically involve the two clubs, the player and the agent.

Jon has only ever wanted the best for the players he’s representing. I respect that in a person, to fight hard in what you believe in – and Jon certainly does that.

Please note

We want our investors to be fully aware of the downsides of equity investing as well as the potential benefits. It's therefore important to realise that investing in small companies always carries risks, including the loss of capital, illiquidity (the inability to sell assets quickly or without substantial loss in value), lack of dividends and share dilution. Equity investments should still be made as part of a diversified portfolio. Read our full Risk Warning
