Pi raises £500k

Case study portfolio

Sourfire Limited, trading as Pi, launched in Winchester in 2014 and in just over two years established itself as an innovative, artisan pizzeria, with potential to be a successful multi-site business. Pi opened a further site at Battersea Rise, Clapham, using the funds raised through the Growthdeck network.

Pi was launched to capitalise on consumers’ increasing interest in more artisan restaurant formats – particularly in the pizza sector. The first restaurant is based outside the centre of Winchester, an affluent Hampshire commuter town. Situated in the heart of a residential district, it attracts strong, regular evening trade and quickly became a destination restaurant. The second site in Battersea Rise, enabled by the Growthdeck fundraise, has already achieved profitability and further sites in London are being investigated.

We are so proud of what we have achieved ... We believe we have created a concept which is unique in today’s market. As well as sticking true to what we know to be fundamentally most important – to always strive to make the best pizzas, using quality ingredients. The origin of our ingredients is essential to us and everything on our menu is made on site. We think that it is an ideal format for London.

Glowing reviews for Pi

Growthdeck introduced high profile sector expert, Kevin Bacon (co-founder Frankie & Benny’s, former MD of Jaime Oliver International), who joined Pi as an Advisor. He advises the Board on site selection, planning and competitive strategy.

Rosie’s created a great concept with Pi and the business made impressive achievements in a short space of time. Kevin Bacon is a great addition to the Board – he brings invaluable industry expertise. Likewise, Kim Hayward (from BDO), who has joined as a non-executive director, has extensive experience of advising early stage and growing companies on fundraising and business strategy, and he has played an advisory role to the founders since the launch of Pi.
