We’d like to say a huge congratulations to our very own Rising Star, Allyson Clarke, who has been announced as a finalist in the esteemed Women in Finance Awards.

Organised by Bonhill Group plc, and supported by GrowthBusiness.co.uk and What Investment magazine, these annual awards are described as ‘Europe’s largest diversity initiative’, and they recognise the high-achievers, advocates and role models for women in this wide-ranging sector.

Allyson has been shortlisted in this year’s ‘Rising Star’ category, which represents 'the best and brightest women in the first five years of working within the financial services industry, who have a unique and inspiring story to tell', which we feel describes her perfectly.

Originally from America, Allyson has spent considerable time in China and has since emigrated to the UK, giving her a very cosmopolitan background, with experience across different cultures and working styles. Having studied Mandarin Chinese as part of her degree at Duke University, she now utilises her Chinese language skills and cultural knowledge in her day-to-day work at Growthdeck, where she plays a very niche/specialist role.

She is a key member of our Overseas team, working with foreign investors who want to take a stake in growing UK businesses, where individuals are generally applying for Tier 1 Investor visas. The visa programmes attract wealth–creators and expand the UK’s business links around the world, through enabling HNW and UHNW foreign nationals to stay in the UK for certain periods of time, provided they invest at least £2 million.

(You can read all about Allyson’s background in the latest edition of Growing Up, our magazine for sophisticated investors – Growing Up, issue 2. Just turn to page 8.)

We’re really proud of Allyson and how far she’s come since joining Growthdeck in early 2016. It’s fantastic to see our colleague shortlisted alongside women from the likes of Octopus, Coutts and BNP Paribas in this exciting category.

Nearly 800 nominations were received for last year’s awards, representing sub-sectors ranging from venture capital to banking to accountancy and corporate law, with the selected finalists coming together for a grand results night in central London.

The 2019 awards night is taking place on 26th June at Grosvenor House in Mayfair. The impressive sponsors list for this year’s event includes JP Morgan, PwC, Schroders, the London Stock Exchange Group and Rolls Royce.

Congratulations and good luck, Ally!
