We are proud to share that portfolio company 1Rebel – the innovative, high-end chain of boutique gyms – has stepped forward and offered the NHS the keys to all its venues for potential use during the Covid-19 crisis.
There has been a significant amount of coverage in the media recently about the undeniable strain the NHS is under, particularly with regards to the potential shortage of hospital beds for those who are sick during this time. With seven 1Rebel clubs situated across London, it’s been estimated this offer of help could potentially translate into space for an extra 400 beds.
The 1Rebel team have also gone a step further and have created a new website which provides detailed factsheets about all its clubs, intended to easily and efficiently provide all the information the NHS might need to enable it to decide if, and how, it could best use the space on offer.
James Balfour, 1Rebel co-founder, says:
“Having spoken to one NHS nurse, it appears our facilities could be a good match as they offer space for IT facilities, changing and shower areas, as well as our studios, which can be made available for bed space, with good lighting and plenty of power sockets.”
Our CEO, Ian Zant-Boer, adds:
“We are all proud of the 1Rebel team for doing what they can to help during this difficult time for everyone. If the Covid-19 situation continues to escalate, this offer of bed space across London could make a real difference to the battle on the frontline. It’s very encouraging to see companies across the country adapting their businesses and pulling together to help their communities like this.”
